Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting
A new energy obligation for UK businesses
SECR is a legislation governing businesses of certain sizes across the UK. It places new demands on the reporting of greenhouse gas emissions, establishing a new framework that applies directly to your financial year end reports, starting from April 2019.
Confused? SECR essentially adds a new reporting element which must be included in your annual reports prepared each year. As SECR is a relatively new obligation, many businesses are unaware of what is required.
Businesses must meet two of the following requirements to be eligible for SECR:
- More than 250 employees
- Annual turnover exceeding £36m
- Balance sheet exceeding £18m
Businesses which use -40MWh or less are exempt from SECR.
Financial directors, facilities managers and environmental managers are all connected to SECR. Rather than having to do all of the auditing yourself, we specialise in working with these professionals to submit effective SECR reports.
What must be reported varies depending on the nature of your business. Largely the requirements include the quantity of Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHGs), energy consumption and energy efficiency measures. Working with Integral Energy means a no-fuss solution to SECR, as we’ll take care of every reporting obligation for your business.
SECR sets a new precedent that shows the new onus the government is placing on businesses to actively reduce GHG emissions. Non-compliance can lead to enforcement action, but the real benefits also include:
- Gaining an exact overview of your energy expenditure – allowing you to audit as you would a financial metric
- Visualise potential savings associated with emissions-saving measures
Make the entire process of SECR compliance simple by working with Integral Energy. With a background in the finance sector but a team of experts skilled in energy management, we can perform an audit and prepare your SECR report more effectively than an in-house team.
